Beauty Buy: Eyelash Curler

Today I made a trip to Saks... seriously, what 18 year old girl actually goes to Saks? (more down below). Anyways, I was originally going to check out and buy a new Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick (which I totally forgot about) and was browsing through the beautiful colours when the lovely assistant Paige comes to help. She directed me to a red lipstick I was also going to pick up for my mom and subsequently showed me the Chanel lash curler or Recourbe Cils de Chanel, if you will. I have seen this lash curler before and was in dire need of a new one so I thought if you're going to get a new one anyways why not get this one? So I purchased it and so far it is far superior to any other curler I have tried, just like Paige promised. I will report back within a week to corroborate my initial claims.

Back on the subject of Saks, I absolutely love this store and have loved it even since I first walked through the across the grand department store, past all the scary employees on the way to Chanel when I was 13. Anyways, I feel like, if anything, more mature or middle-aged women shop here. Nordstroms is more of a younger vibe but Saks to me is more elegant and pristine in its own way. Not hating on Nordstroms... love that place also. Saks is just a whole lot more intimidating if it's your first time. So question of the week... what was it like for your first time in Saks or a luxury department store or just any department store?

Everyday Makeup Routine

This is my current everyday makeup routine for the past 6 or so months. Enjoy!

Everyday Makeup Routine

This routine is simple and easy. I start out by moisturizing my dry skin and lips with simple Chapstick and Yes to Carrots moisturizer. I then swipe on some Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (I'm B30) and conceal any standout spots with my trusty Kat Von D tattoo concealer (which works like a dream at concealing). Next, I move to my eyes and fill in with Maybelline Master Shape Brow pencil in light brown and work Diorshow mascara in Chesnut (swear by it!) through my lashes. Lastly, I powder some Nars Orgasm blusher on my cheeks and add Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 54 Boy to my lips for a light and moisturizing finish. And voila!

November Inspiration Board

As promised, my November Inspiration Board! Camel, creme, oranges and wine! (Why does that sound like menu choices at a restaurant?) Enjoy.

November Inspiration Board

All these things remind me of November. From the Burberry plaid check print to the camel boots. I also fell in love with these burgundy J Brand velvet pants and am also unsuccessfully avoiding looking into anything fall inspired as winter is coming (Game of Thrones, anyone?). And on that note, A December Inspiration Board will be up at the end of November.

P.S. An Americana inspired post will be up soon!

Almost Famous Outfits: Penny Lane Inspired

Today I have a couple looks based on the character Penny Lane in Almost Famous. And of course if you haven't seen it, you must check it out. For those of you who haven't, this is what you need to know... The movie is set in 1973 (think 70's fashion: suede, fringe and fur comes to mind) and about a boy who wants to become a rock journalist. He meets Penny Lane (played by the beautiful Kate Hudson) and Penny Lane is basically the Kate Moss of the movie in which she can throw anything on and look very put together (of course with the help of her shearling coat (and on that note it was super hard to find a shearling coat like Kate Hudson's character so I included three of the closest finds)). On to the looks...

This blue dress is inspired by the one Penny Lane wears to the right. The dress she wears in the movie is a silky fabric and has slits along the sides. Although she rocks the dress, I would feel very uncomfortable with my thighs slightly exposed. My alternative is a DVF dress with the same sort of blue tone and the circular pattern makes it feel even more 70's to me. Throw this John Lewis shearling coat over and feel even more glamourous.

This look is inspired by multiple pieces in the film: from crop tops to fringe to Penny's cossack hat. All these looks might seem ridiculous to pair together (bare midriff and fur hat?) but for some reason they work. Note: this is more of an editorial look with the crop top and fur and obviously you can remove or add pieces to make this more wearable.

I absolutely fell in love with Penny Lane's outfit in this scene. The airy white top... the mini skirt... the so 70's floral lace up boots. This outfit is easy to replicate with the exception of the boots although that could make an awesome DIY.

Again with the crop top! I would never be caught dead bare midriff (Seriously, I would NEVER be caught dead) unless on vacation but that doesn't stopteen girls from flashing their stomach's all the time. So to go along with those who like this recurring trend, voici une autre crop top! Again, add the shearling coat to look ultra fabulous yet put together.

This last look is one I love as well. I don't know if its the denim on denim matchings but it works (at least for me). The jade rings and fringe are so 70's and who doesn't love Ray-Ban's? This look is super casual and attainable.
